9 Kitchen Utensils You Won

Have you ever looked around your kitchen and thought, “Which one of these kitchen utensils can I use to kill someone?” If you’re reading this, the answer is probably yes.

Every single one of the murders you’re about to read about was perpetrated using kitchen utensils as weapons - and not just the obvious stuff like knives, either. You'll never look at a spatula or a turkey baster the same way again...

9 Kitchen Utensils You Won't Believe Were Used as Murder Weapons, crime, murder, creepy, other, True crime,

A Butcher Knife (in Prison?)

Did you know that you can get murder-ready kitchen utensils in prison? Dominic Street found out about this the hard way when he allegedly changed the channel of a TV that the inmates were watching in the kitchen and another prisoner, Brian Veale, stabbed him in the chest with a large kitchen knife. A witness describes the incident happening while the rest of the inmates were enjoying some cake.

"There was a cake prepared and we were sharing the cake and having a chat. On television was horse racing, I went over to watch the channel." Then Veale stabbed Street in the chest, saying calmy, "If I get a life sentence, it doesn’t matter."

A Meat Thermometer

In 2014, Judy Higley-Zuehlke was arrested after she killed 50-year-old John Allen by strangling him, and then using a meat thermometer to stab him in the head and puncture his ear. Despite pleading not guilty, at her trial it was revealed that the meat thermometer was covered with Allen's DNA, as well as that of an “unknown donor.”

A Spatula

Ngor Makuey, a 20-year-old man from Des Moines, Iowa, used a spatula to beat his elderly neighbor to death in 2015. According to his court records, Makuey broke into the man's home and assaulted his wife before beating the man with the spataula. Makuey's attorney used the insanity defense during the trial, but witnesses say they saw no signs of mental illness and he received a sentence of life in prison.

A Corkscrew

In 2008, relatives found the body of Brooklyn resident Murat St. Hilaire in his apartment. He had been stabbed in the temple with a wine corkscrew. No arrests were made immediately after the incident, and the police had no suspects and no leads.

A Turkey Baster

Stacey Castor was really trying to make things work as a black widow, but despite all her hard work, she was caught by Syracuse police when they discovered her fingerprints on a turkey baster that she had used to pump her second husband, David Castor, full of anti-freeze.

After the discovery was made, police tapped her phones and installed small cameras to watch Castor's every move - that's when they caught her trying to formulate a plan to blame her stepdaughter, Ashley, for the murders. After pulling the old anti-freeze trick on Ashley, and writing a suicide note supposedly from Ashley wherein she admitted to killing her father, Stacey was caught when the girl woke up and told the police what had occurred before she passed out.

A Dessert Spoon

Richard Clare from Fern Dells, England, struck Timothy Magee on the back of the head so hard with a dessert spoon that it ruptured an artery and caused Magee to bleed to death internally, in an attack that was ruled self-defense. Clare, a heroin addict, admitted to stealing a cell phone from one of Magee's friends, and when Magee confronted Clare to try and get the phone back, the fatal fight ensued.

A Frying Pan

In October 2016, George Tillman and Ashely Bonner lured their coworker to a house in Brooklyn, Illinois, allegedly promising him sex, but instead they used a frying pan and a VCR to bash his head in before shooting him multiple times and shoving him in the trunk of their car.

Meanwhile, between October 15 and 17, it's alleged that Davanand Rampersaud and a 14-year-old accomplice murdered Bibi Shairoon Nesha Ali by beating her to death with a frying pan during the course of a robbery. The woman was found on the morning of the 17th with her mouth gagged and her hands bound.

A Meat Tenderizer

Michael Joe Murdaugh had a thing for murder. In 1995, he drugged his roommate, Douglas Eggert, with Valium and beer (or as we call it, "sleep juice") before shoving him into a large tool box, driving him to a canal, and beating him to death with a meat tenderizer. Murdaugh would kill again, and while he would continue to use the meat tenderizer, he would also add a jackhammer spike to his arsenal.

Kitchen Scissors (And Everything Else in the Kitchen, Too)

Sorry Gordon Ramsey, but this might be the biggest kitchen nightmare of them all. On Thanksgiving Day 1991, Omaima Nelson used a pair of kitchen scissors to stab her new husband Bill to death, before beating him in the head with a clothes iron for good measure.

After killing her husband, whom she said was abusive, she dismembered his body, cooked his head, and boiled his hands to remove his fingerprints. Then, because it was Thanksgiving, she mixed his body parts with leftover Thanksgiving dinner and tried to get rid of him in the garbage disposal. Nelson's neighbors claim that they heard the disposal running for hours that day.
